Pole Art

Hi

I have been pole dancing now for a short time and I love it, it is so addictive but so enjoyable!

I have a Dance Pole in my living room and I practice everyday and go to classes every Monday!

I think everybody should learn to pole dance, it used to be labelled as sleazy, dirty only for lap dances, this really is not the case, pole dancing is a great fitness and I believe should be classed as a sport!

3 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT POLE DANCING!!!

1. It is great form of fitness and exercise - A good session of pole dancing can burn about 250 calories and can provide more muscle tone.

2. There is a petition to get it into the Olympics and I believe it has earned its place to be there.

3. Angelina Jolie has a pole in her bedroom and pole dances for fitness, but anybody can learn how to pole dance, regardless of age, shape, fitness level or gender.

WHAT IS POLE DANCING?

If you are considering taking up pole dancing, you shouldn’t be scared or think it’s just ladies with there g–strings out!

Pole dancing is a form of dancing/gymnastics. It involves dancing sensually with a vertical pole.

At the classes I attend and other classes I have been to it’s a group of ladies ages from 18 to 60 learning the art of the pole.

Pole dancing is now regarded as an internationally recognised form of exercise and can be used as both an aerobic and anaerobic workout. Recognised schools and qualifications are being developed as pole dancing increases in popularity.

Pole dancing is also regarded by many as a performing art. It is used as a performing art in some modern day circuses. One of these circuses is Montreal's Cirque du Soleil. In this circus, the acrobats, who often wear multi-coloured catsuits, perform advanced pole dancing moves that require a great deal of strength and skill.

Advanced pole dancing requires a significant amount of strength, flexibility and endurance. The dancer may simply hold the Dance Pole, or use it to perform more athletic moves such as climbs, spins, and body inversions.

Upper body and core strength are important, this can take time to develop, but it is worth it at the end so practice as much as you can!

TYPES OF DANCE POLES:

X-POLE

I have found the best dance pole is the X-Pole.

The X-Pole is what I have in my living room. It doesn’t require any screwing into the ceiling or floor.

If you want a pole that is safe, portable and can be put up and down easily this is the one. It only takes minutes to assemble and it also has a spinning mode for more advanced users (which can also be good fun).

You can use an X-Pole whether you are a beginner, intermediate or professional pole dancer. It features some of the most advanced pole design and engineering in the world.

X-Pole has been developed, in consultation with leading pole dancers, to meet the demands of professional pole dancing. It is made from chromed steel and literally screws into place with an easy to use adjuster. It has an expandable height to fit most rooms, from 2235mm (7' 4") to 2745mm (9').

Removable and fully portable, X-Pole is quick and easy to install and its clean, ergonomic design looks great in any location.

X Poles are sold in different sizes: 45mm version which is a smaller pole easier for people with smaller hands and can be easier to do spins and 50mm version which is the standard pole.

There are some other types of poles: available, but you cannot swing on many of these as they do not have the strength or versatility of the X-Pole.

So forget those seedy gentlemen’s clubs, as you will be amazed how beautiful a graceful, balanced dance can be performed to a love ballad on a dance pole even in the lounge of your own home!

After my lesson I find a great sense of achievement when arriving home to know I have learnt new moves such as holds, spins and dance moves. Pole dancing is not something to be ashamed of, it is something to be proud of and so I hope this will inspire you to try it yourself.
